According to leak tipster LeaksApplePro, the iPhone 14 series may be getting a price increase.

However, not all iPhone 14 models will see a price increase. According to this report, the standard Apple iPhone 14 will sell for $799. This is the same price at which the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 were launched. This price parity makes sense, as Apple would want to keep the cost of purchasing the iOS ecosystem as low as possible.

LeaksApplePro suggests a price increase for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone Pro Max. The leaker claims that the Pro model will launch for $1,099 and the Pro Max for $1,199, a $100 price increase compared to the iPhone 13. This relatively large jump in launch price will certainly sting the wallets of those hoping to get the most powerful iPhone 14 model.

LeaksApplePro claims that increased production costs are to blame for this price increase, but urges caution with the information, as these prices are under consideration at Apple and have not been officially determined. iPhone 14 will not be officially announced until September of this year. so there is still plenty of time for Apple to adjust its pricing strategy.

The leak also claims that Apple will ditch the iPhone 14 mini model in favor of the larger iPhone 14 Max with a launch price of $899. Previously, rumors circulated that Apple was considering discontinuing the iPhone 13 mini due to poor sales of the iPhone 12 mini. Therefore, it would not be surprising if the mini model is replaced by the potentially more desirable iPhone 14 Max.

While there are certainly reasons to believe that this tip is legitimate, a healthy dose of skepticism is also warranted. Pricing information this far out from a product release tends to be unreliable at best, and LeaksApplePro does not have the cleanest of records. Nevertheless, the leaker has been right in the past, and with production difficulties affecting almost every sector, it is logical that Apple may be forced to raise the price of the iPhone 14 to cover rising costs.

This is not the only iPhone 14 leak currently circulating. Most recently, a design mockup was released that suggests that the notorious notch will be replaced by a pill-shaped camera cutout. There are also reports that the device will bring back Touch ID and that the iPhone 14 Pro will be unique, with design tweaks and upgrades over the standard iPhone 14.
