Given that Apple has improved its premium tablets every year since its introduction (except 2019), we expect the iPad Pro 2022 to make an appearance. Last year's iPad Pro was one of the biggest updates ever, so we are excited to see what Apple has in store for us this year.

Currently, there are few rumors out there. However, with the release date fast approaching, we expect to hear more information about the new iPad Pro in the near future.

Here is everything we know so far about the iPad Pro 2022.

Apple is rumored to be working on a huge 15-inch iPad to accommodate larger smart screens, and display component partner BOE has adapted its factory to produce a 15-inch OLED display, but this larger panel is at least 2 or 3 years away, and the 2022 iPad Pro series is again expected to be offered in 11-inch and 12.9-inch sizes.

However, that does not mean that subtle design changes are not underway, and we have heard two so far.

The first is a potentially divisive one. Like the rumored Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra and indeed the 2021 MacBook Pro, Apple appears to be adding a notch to the iPad Pro design.

The iPad Pro will use FaceID for authentication, which will require a larger camera footprint. This is because the iPad Pro uses FaceID for authentication, which increases the footprint of the camera.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the second design tweak we heard about is a glass back for the possible introduction of wireless charging. This has long been a feature of Apple's non-SE iPhones, but there is talk of this going one step further with reverse wireless charging, meaning it could top up the batteries of other devices such as your iPhone, Apple Watch or AirPods. This means that you will be able to top up the batteries of your iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods and other devices. This sounds like a further step in the rumored, long-term goal of having devices charge each other wirelessly (but that's years away).

Little has been revealed or even speculated about the specs of the 2022 iPad Pro. However, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the smaller 11-inch tablet will feature mini LED screen technology this time around. This feature debuted in 2021, and while not entirely new, it was exclusive to the much more expensive 12.9-inch model. It is hoped that this will allow more buyers to enjoy the deeper blacks and higher brightness that independently lit pixels provide.

It would be surprising if the 2022 iPad Pro is not faster than the very fast previous generation, but there is nothing definite yet about how much faster it will be One possibility is that the new tablet will benefit from chips manufactured on a 3nm process, but the current version uses M1, it is equally possible that it will simply adopt the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips from the MacBook Pro.

Unlike the non-SE iPhone, which is almost always announced in September, there is no rhyme or reason to the iPad Pro's schedule; in the past it has been announced in March, April, June, September, and October; Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo are predicting that tablets will appear in 2022.

Spring is plausible; not only is March the most common month for the iPad Pro (2016 and 2020) and almost a year after its last launch (April 2021), but leaker AppleLeaksPro has previously suggested that Apple is thinking about something then has - although it could simply be a new MacBook Air or iMac Pro. However, with so little leaked information at this point, summer may be a safer bet. [If the rumored mini-LED display is introduced, we imagine the 11-inch model will be priced at least $100 more than last year's 12.9-inch.

If so, the tablet's price would start at $899 for the 11-inch model and $1,099 for the 12.9-inch model. Of course, this is an entry-level price, and if one wants a 2TB 12.9" model with 5G connectivity, the price now goes up to $2,199.

Frankly, the iPad Pro is already an excellent product, and it is hard to point to any serious weaknesses that need immediate improvement. Still, there is a modest wish list.

To be clear, the battery life of the 2021 iPad Pro is impeccable, but it is worth noting that the 12.9-inch model lasted only 10 hours and 48 minutes in web browsing tests, while the 11-inch model lasted 13 hours and 42 minutes. If this is an indication that the mini-LED screen consumes more power than the IPS panel and that both are indeed using the former this time around, one would expect larger cells to be available to compensate.

The iPad Pro is currently available in space gray and silver, leaving little choice. Recently Apple has been experimenting with a wider range of colors for both the iPhone 13 and the 24-inch iMac.

Now, we are getting into seriously unlikely territory at this point, but the iPad Pro performs best when it comes with two first-party accessories: the Apple Pencil for doodling and the Smart Keyboard to make it a laptop substitute Apple has separated these optional accessories from the iPad Pro. Given the amount of money Apple makes selling these optional accessories separately, that is unlikely to change anytime soon, but we can dream...
