The launch of the iPhone SE3 has just been tipped for an Apple event in the 3rd or 4th month

It may be clear that the iPhone SE 3 launch date will be at the first big Apple event of the year.

Mark Gurman's latest Power On newsletter noted that the new budget iPhone could arrive in March or April at Apple's first big product showcase of 2022. To be clear, Gurman's source did not mention the iPhone SE, only the possible date. It is his guess that the iPhone SE 3 will be announced at this event, but given the rumors so far, it is a fairly safe one.

Garman also states that the event will be online-only. This is still a few months away, but with the current coronavirus outbreak, this seems like a good option.

The iPhone SE 3 is believed to look much like the current iPhone 8-style iPhone SE (2020), with a 4.7-inch display and physical Touch ID button. However, some internal changes are expected.

The main one would be the addition of a 5G-capable A15 Bionic chipset, the same one found in the iPhone 13 series (at least according to Macotakara). Even if there are no other major changes, the performance alone would be enough to make the iPhone SE 3 one of the best budget phones.

The model is rumored to be going into test production and will likely be released at the time Gurman's sources suggest. However, other rumors apparently indicate that another iPhone SE will be released in 2023 or possibly even 2024. This iPhone SE is said to be based on the iPhone XR design and will be visibly different from the current and rumored upcoming model.

But what else will we see at this spring event? This time last year we saw the iPad Pro 2021, iMac (24"), AirTag, and Apple TV 4K. This year, products like the iPad Pro 2022 and the new MacBook Air may serve as support for the new iPhone SE.

One last tidbit from Gurman's newsletter: the next big Apple event in 2022. Gurman claims that after this spring's launch event, the next date to mark on the calendar is June, which is the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2022. at WWDC, new versions of iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS will be will be announced, but added that it will again be an online-only event.
