Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra first display test results beat iPhone13 Pro

You may have heard rumors that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has the brightest display of any smartphone we've seen. New rumors confirm this and indicate that on paper it can thoroughly outshine the iPhone 13 series, but also suggest that the Ultra is not the only model with this capability.

The results of display tests of the Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra by Chinese regulators were shared by EqualLeaks on Telegram (via PhoneArena). These results, according to what is currently known about the model numbers Samsung is using, both phones are Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 versions, and only one set of scores is shown, indicating that Samsung's latest display technology is not purely for top models alone seems to indicate that.

First, the test recorded the size of the two phones' displays. According to the results, the S22 Ultra uses a 6.8-inch display, the same size as the Galaxy S21 Ultra's screen. The Galaxy S22 Plus, on the other hand, has a 6.55" display, smaller than the 6.7" Galaxy S21 Plus.

Both models have an impressive peak brightness of 1,750 nits. This is consistent with previous leaked information on the Galaxy S22 Ultra display, which also had a figure of 1,750 nits.

This is a dazzling result. It is more than 900 nits brighter than the Galaxy S21 Ultra achieved in last year's display tests, and 550 nits brighter than the S22 Ultra's biggest competitor, the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

These results also show that both displays cover 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. This is much better than the S21 Ultra's 81% and the iPhone 13 Pro Max's 77%, which should result in more colorful and more accurate looking images and videos on the S22 Plus and Ultra displays.

Finally, we also see that both models have LTPO displays. This was featured on the S21 Ultra last year, and we are pleased to see this technology also on the middle model in the S22 series.

In addition to the screen, the S22 series is also rumored to be adding an integrated stylus to the Ultra models after introducing a compatible S Pen on the S21 Ultra last year. We may also see a change in the camera system with the introduction of a "Super Clear Lens" and a new focus on 108MP detailed photography. Rumors suggest that Samsung will announce the S22 series next month, at the beginning of February.
