At the 2022 CES, Chevrolet pulled back the curtain on the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV. This is an all-electric truck intended to compete with the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, and Tesla Cybertruck.

In the official press release, Chevrolet divulged important details about the upcoming EV, including pricing, estimated range, horsepower, speed, and towing capacity. Not only that, Chevrolet plans to pack the Silverado EV with the latest technology, including four-wheel steering, a huge 17-inch touchscreen, and what the company calls true hands-free driver assistance technology, Super Cruise.

At launch, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV will be a six-figure car. Yes, when it lands in the spring of 2023, Chevrolet will debut it with the RST First Edition model, which will offer the longest battery range, an estimated 400 miles. After the initial launch of the RST First Edition, other models will begin to hit dealerships. These models include the WT, RST, and Trial Boss. Pricing will start at $39,900 and go up from there. MSRPs for other trims are in the $50,000, $60,000, $70,000, $80,000, etc.

Reservations have already begun on Chevrolet's Silverado EV website. Reservations cost only $100, but the purchase must go through a Chevrolet dealer. Reservations are refundable. This could mean that dealers could mark up the Silverado EV for $39,900 if demand is high enough.

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV is a beast in terms of power, boasting 664 hp and over 780 lb-ft of torque; GM also estimates a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds, which is surprisingly agile for a huge pickup truck.

As for towing capacity, it is expected to trailer up to 10,000 pounds with a maximum payload of 1,300 pounds. These numbers are for the RST model.
