Sleep number debuted in ces2022 next generation 360 smart bed

Smart mattress manufacturer Sleep Number announced at CES 2022 the latest upgrade to its award-winning 360 Smart Bed series, including the ability to detect potential sleep problems such as insomnia and sleep apnea.

Integrating a variety of sensors, the new Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed is designed to "proactively monitor and improve an individual's sleep and health over time, addressing the changing needs of individuals at different life stages." In other words, Sleep Number positions itself as a "smart bed that can grow old with you."

According to Sleep Number, the revamped 360 Smart Bed monitors general health and sleep health and generates suggestions for better sleep in real time; at CES, the company also said that over time and as it learns more, the Smart Bed s AI will be able to detect "unusual events" and alert it to any problems.

The 360 Smart Bed's potential ability to alert users of the risk of developing health conditions such as insomnia and sleep apnea has been talked about, but the brand has not received FDA approval for these, so it is a future goal. It will be interesting to see what happens here, as this is a big leap for even one of the best mattress brands for integrated sleep tracking.

Here is what we know so far about the new Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed...

The new Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed was announced at CES 2022, but will not be available for purchase until 2023. Disappointing, right? Prices start at $1,099, which puts it at the lower end of the price range compared to the brand's other sleep tracking mattresses.

Sleep Number also announced a series of smart bedroom furniture (price TBD) to accompany its new 360 Smart Bed. These will include mobility aids to assist those who need assistance getting in and out of bed.

The star of SleepNumber's smart furniture appears to be an oversized headboard with built-in shelves and surroundings, but there is more than meets the eye. In addition to ambient lighting that supports circadian rhythms (body clocks), individual white noise and noise reduction technology is designed to block out noisy neighbors and other sleep disruptors.

The new 360 Smart Bed builds on the benefits of the existing Sleep Number smart mattress series while promising the next generation of sleep and health tracking. The emphasis is on accessibility for everyone, but to take full advantage of the benefits, users will need to purchase the included bedroom mobility aids. [Individual sleep health needs change throughout the lifespan, and as people reach milestones, they need solutions to help them stay healthy and independent. Our latest 360 Smart Bed, learned from over 13 billion hours of proprietary sleep data, supports sleep health at every stage."

Milestones here include pregnancy and aging, but Sleep Number also looks to pinpoint future risk of developing insomnia and other sleep problems.

That data was used to create "high-tech textiles, antimicrobial components, and graphite-infused foam." The latter is nothing new, and many of the best cooling mattresses and cool mattress toppers already use graphite, but it is still a welcome addition for sleepers who overheat in bed and are always suffering from sleep deprivation.

The new Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed actively monitors body temperature to create a "microclimate," and even tilts the bed to slightly elevate the head to improve airflow, making it better for those who are hot.

Warming of the feet, snoring detection, and general sleep tracking (how long and how much you sleep) can also be found here.

Smart beds are expensive, but if you want to see how the best in smart mattress technology can boost your sleep, it's worth considering the Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed, coming in 2023 (prices start at $1,099).

We can't wait that long. Prices start at $899 for Sleep Number's c2 Smart Bed. Prices start at $899 for Sleep Number's c2 Smart Bed. It can be tried at home for 100 days and comes with a 15-year warranty.
