How to get home Fans are not demanding the Amazing Spider-Man 3 - Here's why

Before I explain why "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" is currently the talk of the internet, let me give you a quick warning. This article contains complete spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Do not read the following until you have seen Spidey's latest film.

Now that we've established that everyone in the audience has seen "No Way Home," let's get down to business. Yes, you read that right.

Now the internet is demanding that Sony/Marvel continue the "Amazing Spider-Man" series in response to Andrew Garfield playing the titular character again in "No Way Home". Their demands can be seen on the #MakeTASM3 hashtag.

Here's what has happened so far. The first "Amazing Spider-Man" film was released in 2012 to mostly positive reviews. A sequel was then released in 2014, but it was largely poorly received; a third film was planned, but was quickly shelved in favor of rebooting the character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Tom Holland taking over the role of Peter Parker.

Most Marvel fans thought the release of Spider-Man Homecoming in 2017 meant that the Amazing Spider-Man series was done and dusted. It certainly seemed that way until Garfield donned the mask and tights again, reminding us all that he may in fact be the best Spider-Man ever on screen (what I said Editor's Note: Agree to disagree).

Now, "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" (in various hashtags) is trending on social media, and enthusiastic comic book fans are telling us how much they want Garfield to join Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland in a Spider-Man trilogy! Sony/Marvel about how much they want him to join Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland in a Spider-Man trilogy.

Why are fans so eager for TASM3 to happen? The short answer is because Andrew Garfield is an absolute force to be reckoned with in No Way Home. While Maguire's character is generally considered more beloved, Garfield's Peter Parker is arguably the highlight of the latest Spider-Man film. [He successfully prevents the death of MJ, played by Zendaya, to make up for not saving Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Holland will likely play the character for years to come, and Maguire gets a full trilogy, but Garfield never got a film worthy of his talents in the role during a turbulent time for Sony Pictures, which ended on a low note with TASM2.

Fans are hoping that Garfield will be given another chance to lead Spider-Man in a film worthy of his talents.

Of course, such fan pressure is only a means to an end. The big question is whether "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" will actually happen. Industry insider Daniel Lichtman certainly thinks so, tweeting, "I also hear Andrew may be coming back."

There have been rumors for some time that Sony wants to make Spider-Man part of its own Marvel Universe (known as the Sonyverse to fans), and with two "Venom" films and "Morbius" due out next year, Sony is definitely looking to make "The Avengers" and is apparently preparing a major crossover film like "The Avengers. [23] [24] Lest we forget, the first trailer for "Morbius" features a graffitied portrait of Spider-Man, and Sony is not shy about its desire to have Spidey face off against Tom Hardy's Venom and Jared Leto's vampire anti-hero. He is not shy about it.

The post-credits scene in Venom: Let There Be Carnage seemed to suggest that Eddie Brock and his alien symbiote would join the MCU and confront (or join forces with) Holland's Spider-Man It was. However, in the post-credits stinger of "No Way Home," the two warped into their own world. So, at least for now, there is no possibility of that.

Perhaps Sony could kill two birds with one stone. Bring back Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man in one movie for the big showdown Spider-Man would desperately want, and Twitter user @areghostsreal thinks Deadpool should be added.

For now, Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal has already stated that Spider-Man will stay in the MCU. Sony may not want two Peter Parkers competing for box office attention. Not to mention, Garfield may not even want to return to the role full time. A supporting role in "No Way Home" may have been enough.

The chances of a full-fledged "Amazing Spider-Man 3" being made seem pretty slim right now, but the power of the Internet was on display earlier this year with the release of Zack Synder's "Justice League" after years of fan activism. Never say never.
