Samsung Galaxy S22 can get this great wireless charging upgrade

As the year 2022 rapidly approaches, rumors of a Samsung Galaxy S22 increase, with the latest one pointing to the possibility of a faster wireless charger for the next series of flagship phones.

MySmartPrice has uncovered a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filing from Samsung detailing a device that could offer 25W wireless charging speeds. This would be a notable upgrade over the 15W charging supported by Samsung's Galaxy S21 series.

This certification was granted by the FCC, suggesting that Samsung is close to launching a 25W wireless charger. And given the rumors surrounding the Galaxy S22, it could appear in time for the expected February launch of the Galaxy S22. Or it could appear at the same time as the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, which is projected to launch in January ahead of the next-generation Samsung flagship.

Wireless charging is generally slower than wired charging, but it is a much neater way to charge a phone. The Google Pixel 6 Pro excels at this, especially if you have a nice stand and set up the phone to display a screen saver image while charging. [However, wireless charging speeds have improved, with the Oppo Find X3 Pro charging at up to 30W and the OnePlus 9 Pro at up to 50W. So if the Galaxy S22's wireless change speeds improve, Samsung's new flagship will be able to better compete with its Chinese rivals.

Speaking of charging upgrades, Samsung is testing 25W, 45W, and 65W charging, and there are rumors that it could be included in the Galaxy S22. Currently, wired charging on the Galaxy S21 is set at 25W, so a jump to 45W or 65W would be a welcome upgrade, especially if the Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra will indeed feature smaller battery capacity than the previous models.

As for the overall upgrade of the Galaxy S22, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip will be included along with improved cameras such as the 50MP main camera on the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus/Pro and an improved sensor on the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The Galaxy S22 Ultra's improved sensor is expected to be included. Speaking of which, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to have a design and feature set that will effectively make it the spiritual successor to the Galaxy Note.

We will have to wait until early next year to see if these rumors come to fruition. But so far, the Galaxy S22 looks to be a contender for the top of our best phones list.
