Nespresso supports American forests in reforestation projects across the United States

[Prioritizing parks and forests in California, Texas, and Hawaii, Nespresso has committed to planting 100,000 seedlings on more than 320 acres. While Nespresso has recently made headlines for its plan to achieve zero emissions by 2050, the brand's focus on agriculture goes back nearly 20 years. [Nespresso North America CEO Alfonso Gonzalez Rochen said, "Protecting the ecosystems that farmers depend on has been an integral part of our sustainability strategy for decades."

This is not the first time parent company Nestlé has turned its attention to America's dwindling forests. In 2020, the company pledged to plant at least 3 million trees in key areas of the Americas by 2021. But the brand behind some of the best coffee makers on the market has taken a big step forward by partnering with the oldest nonprofit conservation organization in the United States.

With Nespresso's donation in hand, American Forests plans to reforest arid forests in the Southern Sierra, California, the Rio Grande Valley, Texas, and Hawaii. These areas have been hit in recent years by fires, building development, and other human activities that threaten local wildlife and sensitive ecosystems.

Founded in 1875, American Forests seeks to foster existing wildlife and reforest distressed areas across the United States. Not only is the organization a pioneer in the creation and restoration of forest life, but its Innovation Lab also studies the natural world as it is being created, developing unique tools to help neighborhoods and national parks prioritize reforestation efforts on a species-specific level.
