Samsung Galaxy S22Ultra may lag behind iphone1pro in 13 key areas

Edit 12/20: Not so good news for the S22, but the Ultra model may have a new detail enhancement feature in the main camera. [S22 is expected to launch in early 2022, but the latest rumors may not be good news on the storage front.

This is due to a retailer leak, at least from tipster @_snoopytech_, who shared an alleged list showing that the basic Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus (or possibly Pro) will have 128GB or 256GB of onboard storage. The Note-like Galaxy S22 Ultra (which could actually be called the Galaxy S22 Note, according to new rumors) will reportedly come with either 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of internal storage.

If true, Samsung will be behind Apple. For reference, the iPhone 13 can be purchased in 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB, and can be upped to 1TB with the purchase of an iPhone 13 Pro.

So, does Apple have the advantage? It might be. However, it is worth noting that Samsung offered such a high-capacity option a few years ago with 1TB of internal storage in both the Galaxy S10 Plus and Galaxy Note 10 Plus. For whatever reason, the following year both the Galaxy S10 Plus and Galaxy Note 10 Plus were again up to 512GB, so it is certainly possible that Samsung's sales data told them that no one wanted that much internal storage and it was not worth pursuing. If Apple eliminates the 1TB option on the iPhone 14, we will have a better idea of whether that is true.

However, it is worth remembering that Samsung's 1TB experiment also included a microSD slot for storage expansion. Rumor has it that the S22 family will not, and that a high-capacity storage model may become a necessity for some, rather than just an option.

Also, a leak from @_snoopytech_ seems to reveal color options for the S22 series: the S22 and S22 Plus will reportedly come in pink gold, green, black or white - some more poetic than we While naming would be expected given Samsung's penchant for flowery branding with names like "Mystic Bronze." The S22 Ultra, on the other hand, will likely be available in dark red, black, and white.

Samsung's Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus/Pro will be virtually indistinguishable from the S21 on the outside, but the S22 Ultra is said to be the Galaxy Note 22 in everything but name, down to the larger curved display and built-in S Pen.

All three will be very powerful devices, either with the just announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip or the very exciting Samsung Exynos 2200 in some regions. These are expected to arrive in February 2022, a month after the permanently delayed Galaxy S21 FE.
