The first Ashes Test between Australia and England is now in the middle stages, with Australia dominating after the first two innings.

So far, almost everything has gone in Australia's favor, except for the toss won by Joe Root. However, Australia still have the advantage, and the England captain's decision to bat first is getting worse by the minute.

Rory Burns was bowled first ball by Mitchell Starc, Root himself decided to duck, and only Jos Buttler and Ollie Pope played decent defense as England struggled to 147 all out.

Nor were the conditions particularly favorable to the bowlers, as was evident when David Warner (94) and Marnus Labuschagne (74) took control of Australia. Travis Head's 112 by the end of the second day ensured Australia's lead.

With Jack Leach smashed off the park (1 for 95 in 11 overs) and Ben Stokes injured in the outfield, there seemed little chance of England getting anything from the match. However, with the second Test starting in Adelaide in a week's time, there is at least a chance to get the series back on track.
