The Xiaomi 12 may be the last flagship phone to be released in 2021, but something ominous may be in store for its launch.

Weibo-based leaker Digital Chat Station, in a particularly brief message, stated: "4500mah ± 67w". From the context of their reply to the post, it is clear that they are talking about the Xiaomi 12.

67W is the charging speed of the base Xiaomi 11T, but we expected Xiaomi to bring 120W charging to the full line. This is the fastest charge we've tried, and if it is included in the basic Xiaomi 12, it would be a huge advantage over the already fast 65W charge of the OnePlus 9 series and the surprisingly slow 25W charge of Samsung's Galaxy S21 series.

There is a silver lining to this as well: since Xiaomi has introduced a 120W charging standard, especially in the 11T Pro, perhaps this speed is again reserved for the Xiaomi 12 Pro or 12 Ultra models. Furthermore, the base Xiaomi Mi 11 used 55W charging, so some speed increase is still expected.

The 4,500 mAh battery is surprisingly small: not only smaller than the Xiaomi 11T, but smaller than the Xiaomi Mi 11 it directly replaces. Battery life can be extended not only by increasing the battery size, but also by using the available power more efficiently. Therefore, if this part of the leak is true, we would expect Xiaomi to focus on giving the 12 series a small greedy power.

Furthermore, DCS, in a reply to one of the comments to his post, wrote that similar sized phones often have only 4,000mAh. This probably suggests that the Xiaomi 12 is considerably smaller than the 6.8- and 6.7-inch devices that came before it. This is good news for those who do not like the increasing size of smartphones over the past few years.

We don't know much about the Xiaomi 12 yet, but one thing that has been confirmed is the use of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will be the gold standard chip for Android smartphones after 2022, 12, it is a good thing that it will be included in the 12.

There are rumors that Xiaomi will introduce the Xiaomi 12 to the world by the end of December. However, it may not be available for purchase in the UK market until mid-2022, as was the case with the Xiaomi Mi 11.
