South Park: The release date after Covid2 has been confirmed!

UPDATE: South Park has announced that Post COVID 2, aka South Park: Post COVID: The Return of COVID, will premiere on Thursday, December 16. There was a lot of fan hype leading up to the "South Park" special: Fans were all over the place in anticipation of the "Post Covid" special. However, "Post Covid" was only part one of a two-part series. Paramount Plus has yet to give us the scoop on when we can expect to see part two, but there are clues as to when it will be released.

"South Park": The South Park: Post-Covid special flashes forward to the year 2061, when the Covid-19 pandemic has subsided and the residents of the small mountain town of South Park. Yes, it took 40 years for humanity to overcome Covid-19. And in that time, if the poster in Stan Marsh's home office is to be believed, we made it to "Mad Max 10".

But this special edition ends with a cliffhanger, and we are reminded that this was only the first half of a two-part film. And lucky for us, we know the month in which the next half will be released.

"South Park Post COVID 2" aka "South Park": Post COVID: The Return of COVID will be released on December 16.

We first learned of this date window in an article by Ryan Parker of The Hollywood Reporter, who stated that we are going to get South Park: Post Covid part 2 will be released in December 2021. At the beginning of Parker's article, he wrote that it was a "one-hour special (part one of part two, which will be available on streaming services next month)."

In other words, "South Park" will be a one-hour special: Post Covid part 2 will be the second of 14 new "South Park" specials (they are trying to call them movies, but the first half was one hour). 14 specials are the result of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's just part of a new deal with ViacomCBS.

A December release makes sense, as it would allow them to keep their Paramount Plus subscriptions. We don't know how many people watched "South Park": we don't know how many people watched "South Park: Post Covid" on Paramount Plus, but our gut feeling is that it was likely one of the best performing pieces of content the service has had in its existence ( (It has been just over 8.7 months at this point).

And even "South Park": unless "Star Trek," "iCarly," "RuPaul's Drag Race," and "SpongeBob" are part of your life, "Paramount Plus" does not have much must-see content. If these specials were to air monthly, Paramount Plus could entice the public to pay at least $4.99 per month.

In the meantime, there are things to watch that will not air this weekend. For example, Yellowstone Season 4 Episode 7.
