The Google Pixel Watch looks smooth with these leaked promotional images

Another batch of images of the Google Pixel Watch have been released, further increasing the likelihood that an all-Google smartwatch will soon be available.

The Pixel Watch photos, posted by regular tipster Jon Prosser, are not just renderings, but marketing images for the rumored wearable. The watch is presented with a rounded face with no bezel, and although blurry, it smells of official styling.

These supposedly leaked images from the marketing materials show a design we have seen before for quite some time, from unofficial renderings based on leaked information.

Consequently, there are no aesthetic surprises here. What is surprising, however, is how similar the finished product looks to the Pixel Watch concept design that Prosser shared a few months ago.

The images show a round-faced watch with a bezel-less display that curves around the edges of the smartwatch. Many other Wear OS-based smartwatches, such as the Fossil Gen 5 LTE and the newly released Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, have multiple buttons.

Therefore, the Pixel Watch is likely to be a fairly clean and minimalist smartwatch, somewhat in line with the design of other Pixel devices. The interchangeable bands, on the other hand, will offer a bit of customization to the wearer.

Not surprisingly, the Pixel Watch is expected to run on Wear OS, which can be both a good and a bad thing.

On the one hand, Wear OS is making great strides to challenge Apple Watch's watchOS software, rolling out revamped versions on new smartwatches that support Wear OS, though it looked great on the Galaxy Watch 4, Samsung's proprietary UI distorted the experience. We will be disappointed if Google does not adapt Wear OS to the Pixel ecosystem and finally offer a dedicated wearable for Pixel phone owners.

Among the OS changes suggested in Prosser's image are simplified route navigation, health data that is easier to parse at a glance, and an overall cleaner interface. If all of these are legitimate, it would mean that the Pixel Watch would be a rival to the Apple Watch.

With a release date set for early 2022, it may not be long before we find out if Google is indeed releasing its own smartwatch and, if so, a contender for the best smartwatch list.
