Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Benchmark Creek - and they are the Way behind the iPhone 13

Samsung's Galaxy S22 Ultra is likely to be the first major phone of 2022, but new benchmark scores may dampen early publicity.

As first reported by MySmartPrice, leaked Geekbench scores show that the Galaxy S22 Ultra with model number SM-S908B pulled single-core and multi-core scores of 691 and 3,167 respectively.

On the bright side, these numbers are from a device with a Samsung Exynos 2200 processor. The U.S. version of the Galaxy S22 Ultra will likely use the Snapdragon 898, which has done better in early tests, according to leaked benchmarks.

Current leaked Geekbench scores for the Snapdragon 898 are 1,211 for single-core and 3,193 for multi-core. Note, however, that Samsung's custom-made SoC (system-on-chip) is rumored to be equipped with AMD graphics.

The above scores are not comparable to the Apple A15 Bionic in the iPhone 13. iPhone 13 Pro Max with A15 was tested and scored 1,720 (single-core) and 4,549 (multi-core) in Geekbench 5 The results are the same as those of Samsung and Qualcomm. This far surpasses what Samsung and Qualcomm are currently developing.

In any case, according to Geekbench leaks, the S22 Ultra has 8GB of RAM, which is not much for Samsung's top-of-the-line flagship. The pre-release units currently listed on Geekbench are likely to come out with higher RAM, just as the performance is likely to be fine-tuned once the release date arrives.

The Exynos 2200 chip itself is said to have a 2.5 GHz prime core clock and three 2.52 GHz performance cores. There are also four efficiency cores, clocked at 1.73 GHz.

The Exynos 2200 is likely to be a variation of both the standard S22 and Plus, at least in global markets. However, Qualcomm has stated that it expects half of Samsung's Galaxy S phones releases in 2022 to feature its chip, and some people have indicated that the Snapdragon 898 could be found in Galaxy S22 models outside the US We take this to mean that

all Galaxy S22 phones are expected to ship with Android 12 with Samsung's One UI 4.0 and will reportedly ship in February 2022. Samsung typically releases new flagship phones in the first three months of the new year, but has not officially confirmed the existence of the S22.
