Ms. Marvel Cast, teaser and everything we know so far

The great news is that "Ms. Marvel" will feature the MCU's first muslin superhero. The not-so-great news is that the Disney Plus series will not appear until next year (I thought it was set for 2021).

"Ms. Marvel" is from creator Bisha K. Ali and stars Iman Verani as Kamala Khan, a Pakistani American teen living in New Jersey. She is a bright student and an avid gamer who writes fan fiction about her idol, Captain Marvel. Kamala struggles to fit in at home and at school. Then she gains the ability to transform, strength, and speed. Not a spoiler: probably not.

Kamala first appeared in comics in 2014, taking the name first given to Carol Danvers (before she became Captain Marvel.) The two characters are linked throughout the comic, and it is not surprising that Kamala will play a major role in Captain Marvel 2: Marvel's is not surprising.

Here's everything we know about "Ms. Marvel," one of the top upcoming Marvel movies and series.

Marvel and Disney Plus previously stated that the show would be released in late 2021. That date was announced at Disney Investor Day last December, along with a sizzle reel.

However, we now know that is not happening. At Disney Plus Day, the company announced that Ms. Marvel would be coming in summer 2022.

The cast of Ms. Marvel will be topped by Iman Velani as Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel.

She joins:

On Disney Plus Day, a brief teaser showed Kamala Khan not expecting to get super powers and getting them anyway. She appears to be walking through the air in a makeshift Captain Marvel costume, but we don't know what her stretchy powers will look like. The clip can be seen on Disney Plus.

At Disney Investor Day in December, Marvel introduced Ms. Kamala as "a new kind of superhero," but "at its core, her story is very universal."

Marvel boss Kevin Feige has stated that she is a new character in the comics. The rest of the teaser highlights the directorial lineup: Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and the sizzle reel shows the first footage of Verani in the role.
