Something witchy is coming to Riverdale Season 6, the fifth installment of the CW drama just ended, but Archie and the gang will be back in less than six weeks. And when you watch "Riverdale" Season 6 online this week, you'll see a new, but familiar face, Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman! The new trailer reveals Sabrina's arrival in "Riverdale."

She reprises her title role in Netflix's "Riverdale" spinoff "The Adventures of Sabrina" (ending in 2020). Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said in a statement, "We've been talking about Sabrina visiting Riverdale since season one, so it's thrilling that this is finally happening as part of the Riverdale special events."

What is this "special event"? It is a five-episode arc subtitled "Riverdale" and heavily influenced by the horror genre.

The CW has set the premiere date for "Riverdale" Season 6 for Tuesday, November 16 at 9 pm ET/PD. It can be seen online at fubo TV, one of the best streaming services.

This represents a major departure for the series, which has typically aired on Wednesdays at 8 PM ET/PT.

The new trailer showcases the ever-increasing drama and ends with Sabrina's appearance.

The first "Riverdale" Season 6 trailer was released shortly after the Season 5 finale. Toni warns someone over the phone that "something bad is happening in Rivervale." Note that she says "Rivervale," which is the subtitle of a five-episode special event in Season 6.

Later in the trailer, Cheryl is wearing a headdress that creates an extreme midsummer vibe. This would be consistent with Aguirre-Sacasa's description of the special event as "firmly in the horror genre."

The new trailer for Season 6 of Riverdale shows the first footage of Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman. There are references to demons, glimpses of a seance, and a seriously creepy veiled figure. And the relationship between Archie and Betty seems to be really heating up, as Betty declares that she really wants his baby!

As things were heralded by the arrival of Sabrina Spellman, Riverdale, things are getting supernatural.

Kiernan Shipka is reprising her role on Netflix's The Adventures of Sabrina, which aired from 2018 to 2020. The actress teased her "Riverdale" Season 6 appearance on Instagram:

In the Season 5 finale, Cheryl invoked a curse created by her ancestor Abigail, who was accused of being a witch and burned at the stake. Since the curse was placed on Archie, Betty, and Jughead's ancestors, Cheryl's version is likely to target their former friends. Sabrina would show up in town to support her fellow sorceresses.

"It's also perfect that Cheryl Blossom shows up to help when she's most in need," Aguirre-Sacasa said.
