Carimali New Heylo Coffee Maker Brand focuses on Induction Heating Machine

Calimari presented its new sub-brand Heylo at the HostMilano trade fair last month. The Italian espresso machine maker already produces several sophisticated coffee machines, but the new brand will pursue induction heating technology instead of the traditional boiler-based extraction method.

The induction heating process eliminates the need for a slow boiler system, as water is fed through metal tubes and induction coils. However, the user can adjust the speed at which water is pushed through the system to personally adjust temperature, pressure, and flow rate, and can also froth milk using a similar system.

Heylo won the Innovation Smart Label award at HostMilano. This award was in recognition of the machine's revolutionary design and low energy consumption. This was not the first time, however, that an induction cooker was on display.

At the 2019 Host show, Calimari showed an early iteration of the Heylo series with a similar single spout, boxy design, and touchscreen interface. But even before that, brands such as Irio and La Fenice had been working on the use of induction heating for both extraction and roasting for several years.

In 2014, La Fenice unveiled the world's first induction coffee maker on Kickstarter. While this prototype never made it to store shelves, it was the first of its kind and an early step toward energy-efficient designs that are making greater strides today.

Both the Heylo espresso machine and milk machine will be available in spring 2022.
