Apple is trying to solve one of the biggest irritations of using the iPhone 13 Pro's great camera by improving the operation of the macro mode.

The three cameras on the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max have received three upgrades, including a better sensor, cinematic mode, and macro shooting capabilities. The latter uses the enhanced ultra-wide camera to take impressive extreme close-up photos. However, it is not always easy to use.

When the iPhone 13 series was launched, the macro mode on the professional models was set to automatically switch when the phone's camera was brought close to an object. While the photos taken in this mode are excellent, it is difficult to activate this mode smoothly, and I recently encountered this problem with my iPhone 13 Pro.

After updating to iOS 15.1, there is now an option to toggle the "auto macro" feature off in the camera app settings. However, in order to switch it off when needed, one had to go through the process of switching to the ultra-wide camera and then zooming in on the subject, which was not an intuitive process, especially for Apple.

However, according to 9to5Mac, the iOS 15.2 beta adds the option to switch to macro mode in the camera app itself, rather than going into settings. I haven't gotten the update myself yet, but it seems to be a useful adjustment.

Traditionally, Apple's iPhone camera app has been trivially easier to use and more intuitive than accessing the various Android phone camera options and modes. However, the attempt to provide seamless access to new features seems to have backfired in the case of the macro mode. Still, at least Apple is working on a fix for that.

This may seem like a small tweak, but given that the iPhone 13 Pro model tops our list of best camera phones, it's good to be able to easily use all the features without having to go deep into the settings menu.
