Samsung Galaxy S22 Leak tipped design just like Galaxy S22 Ultra note

Update: New rumors suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and S22 Plus will feature the brightest displays ever, with peak brightness of 1,750 nits for both models.

As the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S22 approaches, it is becoming clearer how the Galaxy S22 Ultra will stand out. And this will be good news for Galaxy Note fans who have been waiting for a true successor.

Ice Universe has released a tweet showing a glass screen panel or protector claimed for the Galaxy S22. These panels confirm other rumors we have heard, including one claiming major changes to the new flagship series.

What is most obvious in these images is the size difference between the panels. Like the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S20 series, the Galaxy S22 is expected to come in three sizes, starting with the smallest, the 6.1-inch Galaxy S22, up to 6.5 inches for the Galaxy S22 Plus (or Pro), and then the 6.8-inch Galaxy S22 Ultra, and is expected to end with the Ultra. This would be a decrease for the regular and Plus models.

The other major point of interest is the slight difference in the corners of the displays. The two smaller panels have the rounded edges typical of the Galaxy S series. However, the corners of the largest phone have sharper right angles. This is consistent with previous rumors about these displays, but it is not the only one.

Samsung's Galaxy Note phones feature square corners, likely to differentiate stylus-first usability compared to the touchscreen-only Galaxy S. The addition of square corners on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, and now (according to other rumors) a stylus built-in seems to confirm that the Galaxy S22 Ultra is the successor to the Galaxy Note.

There is more to look forward to in the S22 line than a new screen size and stylus: it will have some new chipset, such as the AMD-powered, Samsung-produced Exynos 2200 or Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 898 chip. There will also be some camera upgrades to the base Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus, perhaps a new detail mode on the Ultra's 108MP sensor.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra will share the same camera resolution as the S21 Ultra, but the sensor is expected to be replaced with a new and improved version.

As for a release date, our current best guess is February. We had expected Samsung to launch this phone in January, but that launch period is instead believed to belong to the long-delayed Samsung Galaxy S21 FE.
