Latest Samsung Galaxy S21FE rumors have bad news for availability

Galaxy S21 FE Said to Suffer Release Woes According to a new report from South Korea, Samsung has hit a new wall with this affordable flagship. For this reason, it appears that Samsung plans to sell the S21 FE in Europe only through a handful of partners.

Korean publication Ddaily claims that Samsung's head of mobile division, Tae-woon Roh, is adamant about releasing the Galaxy S21 FE despite the crumbling need for such a device. After all, the Galaxy S22 is right around the corner, and the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy A series all start at affordable price points.

Ddaily further corroborates reports we have heard that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S21 FE at CES 2022, which is less than two months away, and the Galaxy S22 will be announced a month later in early February. Some, including us, have expressed concern that the S21 FE is overdue and that releasing it so close to Samsung's next flagship series could hurt S22 and Galaxy A sales.

Ddaily reports that few carriers are interested in selling the Galaxy S21 FE, possibly due to potential cannibalization. Samsung's portfolio is very crowded among the A, S, and Z families, and adding one more could possibly further confuse customers. Additionally, the S21 FE could directly harm sales of existing Galaxy S21 inventory. Carriers may not like that very much.

Samsung's stubborn rehash seems like a bad idea from where I stand. The Galaxy S21 FE is not necessary; from the $599 Galaxy A52 to the $799 Galaxy S21, the S21 FE has failed to find its value by offering something truly essential. Samsung does not need to have a phone for every $100 price point.

Nevertheless, according to Ddaily, the head of Samsung's mobile division insists on bringing the Galaxy S21 FE to market despite the concerns of the media and carrier partners. At that point, one has to wonder what the purpose - other than bold foolhardiness - is.
