Update: A trio of apparently leaked screen protectors gives clues as to how the Samsung Galaxy S22 model will measure up. There are also further hints about the Note-like design of the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

We have new hints about the colors Samsung is planning for next year's Galaxy S22 release. And it looks like Samsung plans to change things up from the Galaxy S21.

The information about the Galaxy S22 colors comes from Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, which has a strong track record of picking up details from cell phone manufacturers' supply chains. In a tweet this week, Young gave possible color options for all three expected Galaxy S22 models.

Specifically, the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus will be available in black, green, pink gold, and white options. Black, green, and white are also planned for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, with a dark red option also available, Young said.

If this prediction comes true, it would be a bit of a departure for Samsung. For example, the Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus were only available in violet. Similarly, Ultra versions tend to come in only a couple of less flashy colors, but Samsung is offering navy, titanium, and brown Galaxy S21 Ultra versions exclusively through its website.

The leaked colors not only provide insight into what direction Samsung is heading with the release of the S22 next year, but also how Samsung's flagships could stand out from the iPhone 13 and Google Pixel 6. These two flagships also offer multiple color options, but in both cases Apple and Google have opted for more subdued shades.

For example, I am currently using a pink iPhone 13 for testing, but it is a very pale shade, looking like white laundry washed with something pink, leaving the tint rather than a bold color. the Google Pixel 6 has a pop of color on the horizontal camera rubber in, but the shades are much lighter than the majority of the phone's body.

It will be interesting to see if Samsung follows this trend or goes in its own direction with more assertive shades like black, green, pink gold, white, and red in the leaked options. As a lover of bright colors, I'm hoping for the latter.

Ross Young's tweet contains another detail about the Galaxy S22 family. This confirms current rumors regarding the release of the Galaxy S22.

The Galaxy S22 is expected to usher in the usual assembly of performance and battery improvements. Samsung is also rumored to be working on the camera to improve the colors captured by the device's lens array. The Galaxy S22 Ultra in particular is being touted as the successor to Samsung's Galaxy Note lineup, right down to the included S Pen.

If the rumors of an early 2022 release are true, we should know the color and other features of the Galaxy S22 by early February.
