No, this trick will not speed up the Google Pixel6 fingerprint sensor

The Google Pixel 6 cannot be used without unlocking the phone. Those who are fortunate enough to have already obtained one, despite the lack of inventory, are likely experiencing sluggish operation of the fingerprint scanner under the display.

While this can be annoying, there is a workaround in the settings menu. Canadian tech YouTuber ZACHtalksTECH on Twitter (via XDA Developers) noted that he was able to address the fingerprint scanner issue by enabling the "Increase touch sensitivity" option and recommended that others try it.

So naturally we did, and after trying the Google Pixel 6 Pro for a few days, we found that we had to press our thumbs into the display quite carefully and firmly to unlock the phone.

So we enabled the "Increase Touch Sensitivity" option (found in the "Display" section of the main menu) and tried unlocking the phone. At first the fingerprint sensor seemed a little more responsive, but after turning this setting on and off and unlocking the phone several times, I noticed little difference in speed or ease of use.

We also had other staff members try this "trick" on the Google Pixel 6 review unit. They, too, noticed no difference with the touch sensitivity setting turned on.

This was Google's first attempt at an under-display fingerprint scanner, but it didn't work. Visually, the Pixel 6 display is similar, and has been the subject of complaints about the Pixel 6's tint and extra punch holes in the display. There is also a screen flicker issue, which Google acknowledges and plans to fix in a December update.

Gladly, aside from these issues, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are pretty great phones. They offer great cameras and strong performance for a low price, and are two of the best camera phones of all the phones on the market today. However, it is unfortunate about these quality control issues.

Hopefully Google will help speed up the fingerprint sensor on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro with an update.

But despite this issue, the Pixel 6 is still a killer Android phone. In fact, the Google Pixel 6 is the Android phone Roland has been waiting for. So far, he has not been disappointed.
