Addressing the lack of supply despite high demand for the new iPhone 13 model, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company is "working feverishly" to increase supply capacity for the latest model.

Supply chain issues related to the global chip shortage have affected nearly every sector of the tech industry to varying degrees. Given that Apple had weathered the chip shortage fairly well, thanks to its strong purchasing power and control over its diverse supply chain, it is clear that the shortage is indeed a terrible one.

Demand for the iPhone 13 is not so high that supply cannot keep up, meaning that people are not experiencing the same extreme problems as those seeking a successful restocking of the next PS5.

However, the iPhone 13 sold out pretty much immediately on the first day of pre-orders. Initial demand was quite strong, and some people, including Tom's Guide staff, had a hard time getting their orders in thanks to Apple's website struggling with the influx of traffic.

The situation seems to have eased a bit, but wait times seem to vary depending on which iPhone 13 model you want to purchase. iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini models have a minimum wait time of several weeks. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max models, on the other hand, are expected to be delivered in late November.

This is based on shopping from Tom's Guide offices in New York, and may vary in other regions. In addition, these wait times will likely increase as demand increases for the holiday season.

Clearly, Apple wants to be able to sell the new iPhone to everyone who wants one, and it would be foolish not to do everything in its power to resolve supply chain issues.

Cook did not elaborate on how Apple would tackle the supply constraints, but seemed bullish on how Apple would navigate the issue, telling CNBC that Apple is "performing very well despite the supply constraints, which are greater than expected."

However, these constraints are likely to continue through the first quarter of 2022. However, as a trillion-dollar company, Apple has the clout to work on speeding up its supply chain to meet iPhone demand. But as it stands, if you order a new iPhone 13 now, you should be prepared to potentially have to wait until you get your new phone.
