Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is coming to Oculus Quest 2 - and it can redefine the open world game

After the release of "Resident Evil 4" in VR, more mid-2000s titles, including the much-loved "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," appear to be coming to Oculus Quest 2.

During Facebook Connect 2021, Mark Zuckerberg himself revealed that the company plans to bring "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" to the Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality headset. No other news on pricing or release date was shared, much to the chagrin of fans of this immensely popular entry in Rockstar's open-world franchise.

For now, a blog post on the official Oculus website promises only "Experience (again or for the first time) one of the most iconic open worlds in gaming with new perspectives on Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas."

In other news, Zuckerberg also announced that Facebook will change its name to Meta. As such, Oculus Quest will be known as "Meta Quest" starting in 2022. The choice to change the platform name is so that it can be directly integrated into what Facebook is calling the "Metaverse."
