The Google Pixel 6's Magic Eraser tool is one of the phone's unique software powers. This tool is designed to remove distracting backgrounds from perfect photos, and it's surprisingly simple to use.

A few taps in Google Photos and the passerby will evaporate, the photo bomber will be deactivated and removed, but the background should look perfect. This is an effect that could be achieved with a dedicated photo editing app, but the fact that it can be easily done with just the photo apps you normally use makes a big difference for non-tech-savvy users.

It's pretty easy to explain what Magic Eraser does. The software and AI tricks allow it to quickly and automatically edit photos to remove unsightly areas.

We have yet to actually use Magic Eraser, so we don't know the limitations of the system; Google says it works best on background elements, however, so perhaps Magic Eraser is the best for removing your ex from an otherwise nice photo It is not the best method.

1. Select the image you want to edit in Google Photos and tap the Edit button.

2. Select the tool heading from the bottom bar, then Magic Eraser

3. The tool will suggest elements of the photo you want to remove. Tap them and they will be deleted.

There is no denying the everyday convenience of the Magic Eraser. When used with Google's excellent Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro camera systems, it can produce images that outperform most other smartphones without the need to download additional photo apps. This is progress.
