The design of the MacBook Air2022 looks stunning with the new rendering

Update: New leaks indicate that the MacBook Air 2022 will have a notchless display.

On Friday, many details about the upcoming 2022 MacBook Air were revealed by Dylandkt (Appletrack's 75% accurate leaker); Dylandkt's details confirm many of the details revealed five months ago by Jon Prosser (Appletrack rating: 74 .6%) corroborated much of what was revealed, including the renderings we included at the top of our article.

Prosser and his artist, RendersByIan, have updated the original images to take into account the new details revealed by Dylandkt.

This means that MagSafe, Apple's magnetic charging port, is back.

Not only does the MagSafe cable attach in a very satisfactory manner, but it clips off with very little force. This means that your expensive new laptop will not crash to the floor if someone trips over a stray charging cable.

You can also see from the photo above that the RendersByIan uses solid white behind the keys, mirroring the all-black keyboard found on the 2021 MacBook Pro. The metal visible between each key appears to be a thing of the past.

Two Thunderbolt ports and a headphone jack can also be seen in these renderings. This is far fewer ports than the new MacBook Pro, but the same as the Air has traditionally offered; unlike the MacBook Air with M1, which has both Thunderbolt ports on one side, these renderings show the Thunderbolt ports on the on the opposite side of the laptop.

And there is a notch.

It is interesting that the new renderings include this. Indeed, Dylandkt has stated in his Twitter thread that he cannot confirm "if there is a notch", but it could look like this nonetheless:

Perhaps with a white border, which would certainly look odd and would blend in less with the macOS menu bar. It would certainly look odd and would be difficult to blend in with the macOS menu bar. Of course, a black notch with a white border would look even stranger, so it will be interesting to see if Apple doubles down on the controversial design by including a notch here as well. not necessarily using the exact same technology. [The presence of the notch suggests that the bezels will be dramatically thinner, as seen in the unboxing comparison of the 14-inch MacBook Pro.

In any case, there is still time to know for sure; Dylandkt expects the new laptop to appear in mid-2022, priced "only" slightly higher than the current M1 MacBook Air (starting at $999 for reference) He said.
