Halloween is just around the corner. You may be getting ready for a spooky party or carving pumpkins with the kids. Or maybe you're getting ready to trick-or-treat (trick or treat). Either way, decorating is very important.

If you want to make an impact this Halloween, why not take advantage of scary houseplants? They can decorate your home in a natural way and you may not even realize you already have them. You might just end up with your very own Little Shop of Horrors.

Of course, start with the Venus flytrap. This insectivorous plant attracts prey with its nectar, and when a fly is caught in the hairs on its head, it closes its "mouth" to form a cage and begins to dissolve the fly. This plant is very easy to care for, but care must be taken.

This tree bears what looks like an ugly lemon hand. They are actually citron fruits, but I won't spoil it. Each "hand" has 5-20 fingers and can be eaten just like lemon peels. Watering is necessary anytime the soil is dry, but once every two weeks is sufficient in winter.

If you're a scaredy-cat, this is not recommended, but the Bleeding Tooth Fungus definitely looks the part. This white mushroom appears to be "bleeding" from its pores, but it is actually pigmented sap. It is found in forested and mountainous areas and is not an ornamental plant, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Who would have thought that there would be a cactus that looks exactly like a human brain? Combine it with a skull-shaped pot and you've hit the jackpot! This cactus is a succulent native to Mexico and is very easy to care for. It should be in direct sunlight and watered sparingly.

This should technically be planted outside, but I thought it should still be on the list. The Chinese Lantern Plant produces small white flowers that are later enclosed in orange lantern-shaped pods. It is sure to impress trick-or-treaters. It is very easy to grow and spreads quickly, so it may need pruning.
