Thanks to a series of new third-party accessories, Google's new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are now available with MagSafe accessories.

David Imel, a researcher at MKBHD Studio, was the first to notice that Moment's Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro cases are now MagSafe compatible. He took to Twitter to show off how some of his iPhone accessories worked without issue while using Moment's Pixel 6 case.

MagSafe, a proprietary magnetic technology originally created for MacBook charging cables, has been built directly into every iPhone since Apple launched the iPhone 12. Magnets inside the phone surround the internal charging coils, which hold the device firmly in place and allow MagSafe-compatible accessories to be used.

Moment names its proprietary magnet array (M)Force and promises that it will work without problems with "most MagSafe-compatible accessories," including options such as wallets, sleeves, and chargers. In addition, it will work without problems with Moment's proprietary mounts for cars and motorcycles.

As Imel points out in the video, when the Pixel 6 is attached to the MagSafe charger, it clearly clicks and charges. Unfortunately, he does not elaborate on whether the phone can get the full 15W of charging power that the iPhone lineup can draw.

If you are an Android user who will be picking up a Pixel 6, of course this news could be quite exciting. However, given how eager Apple is to wall off its ecosystem, the company certainly can't get too excited about the news that its technology will be rebranded for use in Android cases. Nevertheless, more sales of accessories is not a bad thing.

Momento's new case for the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro costs $49.99. The company's iPhone cases come in a wide variety of colors, but so far the only color available is black. Therefore, if there is enough interest in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro cases, the company may release new color options in the future.
