The MacBook Pro2021 16-inch has a secret weapon that the 14-inch MacBook Pro lacks

On Monday, October 18, Apple announced the 14-inch MacBook Pro 2021 and 16-inch MacBook Pro 2021. These are two highly anticipated new MacBook Pros with bright mini LED displays and the latest Apple silicon.

In fact, there are two new Apple silicones, the new M1 Pro chip and the more powerful M1 Max, both of which seem to be much more powerful than the already impressive M1 chip.

However, while both MacBook Pro models can be configured with either chip, only the 16-inch MacBook Pro 2021 with the M1 Max appears to have access to the special new high-power mode that comes with macOS Monterey.

This could be a big story since this is the first time we've seen Apple ship a laptop with a dedicated high-power mode. We had already suspected that the MacBook Pro 2021 might get a performance boost with the new High Power mode, but Apple has now told Tom's Guide that this High Power mode exists on the Monterey, 16-inch 2021 with the M1 Max chip. MacBook Pro only has access to it.

From the name, this new Boost Performance mode is similar to the (?) mode we have become accustomed to on recent MacBooks. Much like the Low Power mode, it is reasonable to expect it to work in reverse, as a MacRumors contributor recently stated in the macOS Monterey beta, "Your Mac will optimize performance to better support resource-intensive tasks. As a result, fan noise may increase," and it is reasonable to expect that this new mode will make the allegedly whisper-quiet 16-inch MacBook Pro 2021 a little louder.

However, it is still unclear how much of a performance boost this high-power mode will provide. We will have to wait until we get a chance to benchmark the 16-inch MacBook Pro 2021 with macOS Monterey to see how much of a difference this new mode makes and whether it is worth replacing it with the 16-inch MacBook Pro 2021 with M1 Max. to benchmark the 16-inch MacBook Pro 2021 with macOS Monterey.

The new MacBook Pro will be available on October 26, the day after macOS Monterey launches, and a full review of Apple's new OS and its rugged new MacBook Pro, including performance benchmarks and battery tests, will We will bring you the results. Stay tuned!
