Google Pixel6 Leaked Promotional Video shows off Major New Software Features

Only a small percentage of potential buyers of the Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro will be channeling Google's launch event this week. For the rest of us, the company needs a snappy, concise way to get people to keep the new devices in mind and show them why they want the Pixel 6 and not the iPhone 13.

And now, thanks to what is supposedly some official promotional video leaked to Twitter by @_snoopytech_, we know the three key points that Google appeals to in only 30 seconds.

While we cannot be 100% sure that this is Google's official promotional video for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, it certainly looks authentic. We would also be very surprised if it is not authentic, given the short time frame leading up to the launch and the fact that the features highlighted here are consistent with what we already know or suspect.

There are ads for both the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, but the clips are essentially the same, with only very slight differences in splicing. You can play "spot the difference" below, but the gist of the story is the same and interesting.

Google is not pushing the Pro's 120Hz screen and additional camera, but talking about the sharing capabilities enabled by the new Tensor chip.

After showing a home screen gloriously adorned with Material widgets, the promotion jumps straight to highlighting Tensor as "the first Google chip in a smartphone."

It then begins with the "Magic Eraser" feature revealed in last week's Carphone Warehouse leak, demonstrating exactly what this enables. As suggested, this allows you to remove elements from a photo, so that a construction worker in the background of a group selfie is removed from existence with just one tap.

It all looks very impressive, but the small print at the bottom of the screen is worth acknowledging here; Google warns that "Magic Eraser may not work on all image elements," but also adds that the sequence is shortened . Whether this is a killer feature or something that should have spent more time in the oven will be determined by how complicated it actually is to use.

The video then skips to "Live Translation," which, as its name suggests, can translate conversations in real time. This has been a hobby horse of Google for a while and was marketed as a big feature of the Pixel Buds, but here it is shown to work with spoken conversations via Google Messages or Google Lens. All of this, Google adds, "doesn't require the Internet."

Finally, Google emphasizes the security of the new phones. The secure motif is joined by text about a security hub that protects "your phone, your data, your passwords, your Google account, and your digital life."

The ad ends with the Pixel 6 tagline: "For all of you."

This is an eclectic mix of features to highlight, and it is interesting to see what Google prioritized for those exposed to the Pixel 6 for only 30 seconds of the ad break. There are bound to be more tricks announced on Tuesday, but it would be very surprising if Google doesn't mention Magic Eraser, Live Translate, and Security Hub in depth.
