Polar's new software makes me (almost) want to switch from Garmin

Polar this week unveiled two new watches, the Grit X Pro and Grit X Titan, along with information on its Vantage V2 3.0 software and two new watches in the Vantage V2 series.

The existing Polar Vantage V2 is a multisport watch primarily targeted at runners who want to record all their workouts, not just recovery data. up to 40 hours of GPS, running and cycling performance testing, and sleep tracking. battery life, it's easy to see why the V2 quickly became one of the best running watches on our list.

On October 6, Polar announced a software update for the Vantage V2 that will be available to Polar users on October 20. This software update will provide Vantage V2 users with new outdoor and navigation features.

The Vantage V2 line is also expanding with two new watches: the Polar Vantage V2 Shift, which is nearly identical to the Vantage V2 but has a different wristband that is easily interchangeable; and the Vantage V2 Shift, in silver and black, There is a perforated leather wristband and a functional FKM wristband, and the two bands are interchangeable with a quick release bar.The Vantage V2 Shift costs $549.95 and is available now.

Polar also introduced the Polar Vantage V2 Red, a new bright color scheme for the same watch.

Software updates provide Polar Vantage V2 users with some of the latest features of the new Grit X Pro watch. Compared to the Garmin, the Vantage V2 has always had some gaps, such as the lack of music onboarding and map navigation. The new update addresses some of these issues.

We received a sample of the new Polar Vantage V2 Red, which is very bright on the wrist and comes with new software to be released on October 20. Major updates for users include:

New outdoor features: always-on altimeter, position coordinates, sunrise, sunset, twilight hours, and compass. Out of the box, sunrise and sunset times were displayed, but these can be customized in the settings.

New heart rate sensor mode: the watch can be used as a heart rate sensor and can connect to gym equipment or mobile apps via Bluetooth.

So far, there is no word of a new Vantage running watch hitting the market, so Polar seems to be focusing on the Grit X line. the Polar Vantage V2 software update, while beneficial for runners who like to explore, is not particularly It is not new.
