MacBook Pro1X launch is imminent Key specs and reported leaks

The new MacBook Pro is rumored to be unveiled later this month, possibly at the October Apple event; according to reports, Apple's latest laptop will feature a 14-inch mini LED display, a new flat-edge design, HDMI port, and SD card slot. The laptop will also feature the powerful new M1X chip, which according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman will be "a more graphics-intensive, professional-focused M1 chip."

A leaked image purportedly showing the DVT (Design Verification Test) unit of this supposed new MacBook Pro 2021 model provides further evidence that it will indeed have the M1X chip, along with other features. The image is attributed to Twitter user Majin Bu, who claims to have received the information from another Twitter account, Ky Young.

The new MacBook Pro is said to come with a 512GB NVMe SSD and 16GB of unified RAM; as Wccftech points out, it is unclear if these components will come with the base version of the laptop. The M1X chip is more Given its ability to handle graphics-intensive tasks, a 512GB SSD and 16GB of RAM would pair nicely with this chip.

Previous leaks of the MacBook Pro 2021 by iOS developer Dylandkt suggested that the M1X chip was an improved version of the M1 and not its successor.

"The M1X is an enhanced version of the M1, with more Thunderbolt channels, CPU cores, GPU cores, multiple external monitor support, and greater power consumption," Dylandkt claimed. As we previously reported, the M2 chip is expected to be included in the MacBook Air, which is scheduled for release in the first half of 2022.

Any rumor is best taken with a healthy dose of skepticism. However, given the body of evidence, the M1X-equipped MacBook Pro appears to be the real deal, and once the laptop is revealed at Apple's event, which is expected to take place in late October, it won't be long before the hood of the MacBook Pro 2021 is revealed. It won't be long before the hood of the MacBook Pro 2021 is revealed.

Exciting news for Mac users, but especially thrilling for gamers: thanks to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, SSD-driven titles are becoming the new standard. If the new MacBook Pro is as powerful a laptop as it reportedly is, gaming will be a realistic option.
