Intel's new ad says Apple users are under the "spell" - Oh Boy

Did you know that Windows laptops play games? Lots of games and stuff? Did you know that 2-in-1 laptops exist? Seriously. You can flip the screen around, you can reach out and touch the display.

This is news to Apple fans, at least according to a new Intel ad PC Gamer found. They just need to open their eyes and break the "spell" cast by the wizards of Cupertino. The four-minute video is positioned as a social experiment, and according to Intel, the people hired were "real people who were paid for their time and opinions.

You are free to watch the video, but be warned, "Is this the reality now?" And let me warn you that someone is actually saying that.

The gist of this social experiment is this. Intel got Apple users together and showed them what they could do with Intel PCs in the name that they might get a sneak peak of something new from Apple.

Spoiler alert: MacBooks cannot do these things. Participants are shown how easy it is to customize a windows PC. And, to be fair, sometimes it is really easy to upgrade every aspect of the machine, as in the case of the Framework Laptop.

It will also show how an Intel-powered PC can play over 57,000 games at once, how the Mac is still behind in gaming, and how the MacBook does not yet have a touch screen. This is a good argument, and one that we hope the new MacBook Pro will provide. However, as Apple continues to focus on the iPad Pro for touch-based computing and Apple Pencil input, it is unlikely to happen anytime soon.

But then things take a strange turn. Fake Apple representatives tried to show new employees a 2-in-1 laptop that could transform into a laptop, a form factor that has been around for more than a decade. This form factor has been around for over a decade. And the reaction was as if these people were being told they could start a fire for the first time. This is not magic, it's called a rotating hinge.

Participants are then taken to a room where they can see and touch this 2-in-1 and other Intel PCs. Never mind the fact that Apple's M1 chip outperforms most Windows machines in performance, or that the iPhone and MacBook work well together. Or the fact that the battery life of the latest MacBooks dwarfs Intel-powered systems.

Meanwhile, the new MacBook Pro 2021, rumored to be unveiled at an Apple event this month, is undergoing significant changes. These include a new flat-edge design, a larger 14-inch mini LED display, an HDMI port and an SD card slot. It is also said that the TouchBar will be eliminated and a powerful new M1X chip will be installed.

At last count, viewers do not seem that impressed with the experiment, as the Intel ad has 5.7K "dislikes" and 2.8K "likes" on YouTube. And while the video raises some valid points, it is unlikely that this will get many people to switch to "Team PC."
