If he is unable to play, Tim Anderson and Yoan Moncada will have to play. Anderson leads the team with a .309 batting average and has a hit in 13 of his last 14 games. Moncada leads the team with a .375 on base percentage.

Lance McCullers Jr. will try to stop the White Sox offense as Houston's starter. The 28-year-old is 13-6 with a 3.16 ERA this season, including two starts against Chicago; McCullers is 2-0 in those starts, allowing just three earned runs in 13 innings pitched; the White Sox are still waiting to announce their starting pitcher for Game 1.

Looking at this series, one has to admire the managers. Dusty Baker and Tony La Russa were teammates with Hank Aaron and Phil Niekro on the 1971 Braves. La Russa, now 77, is in his first season with this version of the White Sox. He led the team in the last century, from 1979 to 1986. As for the 72-year-old Baker, Houston marks his fifth team, and like La Russa, he has taken every franchise he has managed to the playoffs.
