Windows 11 officially launches today, October 5, and Microsoft will host a special live stream to celebrate the launch.

The Windows 11 launch live stream will begin at 5 pm PT / 8 pm ET on "Elevenation," a special site that Microsoft seems to have launched for the occasion. Interesting is the lineup: musicians Tate McRae and Allen Stone will appear.

In addition, Microsoft promises a chance to win a Windows 11 NFT if you attend this event; an NFT is a "one-of-a-kind cryptographic token" that unlocks "valuable experiences and rewards" (presumably within Windows 11).

Although Windows 11 was officially released today, it is not taking the world by storm. Microsoft will offer it as a free upgrade to Windows 10 owners through Windows Update, but it will not be available to all immediately. Microsoft is rolling out the update through mid-2022, and depending on the year of your PC, you may not be offered the upgrade for a while. And for many users, if you don't meet the strict system requirements of Windows 11, updates may not be offered at all.
