The Google Pixel 6 Pro looks very promising from what Google has shared so far and from all the rumors and leaks. However, the iPhone 13 Pro Max has set the bar for smartphones quite high. So high, in fact, that it is now our overall best smartphone.

So how can the Pixel 6 Pro overtake Apple? Well, it seems to share at least some of the same specs and features, including a 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED display and a telephoto camera. But the Pixel 6 Pro promises more than that and could be the best Android phone to challenge Apple's throne.

Here's how the Pixel 6 Pro could overtake the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

How will Google try to beat Apple? The new Tensor SoC is a direct competitor to Apple's A15 Bionic and is expected to offer quick performance with Android 12 based on leaked Pixel 6 benchmarks, but that is far from the full story.

Google designed Tensor to provide users with new experiences that Snapdragon Qualcomm chips could not deliver. For example, the Tensor Processing Unit can make the face of an infant in an image less blurry

Tensor could also enhance everything from voice recognition (which can run around Siri) and translation to video processing of sunsets and other challenging lighting conditions It should help to.

The Google Pixel 6 Pro will have three cameras, with rumored specs of a 50MP wide camera, 48MP telephoto lens, and 12MP ultra-wide shooter. This compares to Apple's trio of 12MP lenses on the back of the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Of course, resolution is only part of the story. And Apple is currently at the top of our Best Camera Phones list because of its photo processing capabilities. Apple also won the iPhone 13 Pro Max vs Galaxy S21 Ultra showdown. However, Google is known for its computational photography technology, and we expect marked improvement in the Pixel 6 Pro line.

Finally, we expect the Pixel 6 Pro to have a more powerful zoom than the iPhone 13 Pro Max's 3x optical zoom.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max is rated to reach up to 50% battery capacity in 30 minutes with Apple's 20W USB-C charger. It can also be brought to 100% even faster with a 30W charger, such as the one included with the MacBook Air.

However, the Pixel 6 Pro is said to offer even faster charging, up to 33W. The previous Pixel 5 had a maximum of 18W. It remains to be seen how this will translate into charging speeds.

Additionally, the Pixel 6 line will reportedly offer faster 23W wireless charging, compared to 15W for Apple's MagSafe technology.

According to leaked specs, the Google Pixel 6 Pro will have a 5,000 mAh battery compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max's 4,352 mAh battery (based on teardown.) For Google to surpass Apple in battery life, the Pixel 6 Pro needs to offer an efficient display and take full advantage of the Tesnor chip working with Android 12.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max is attractive, but it is even heavier than the iPhone 12 Pro Max, and not everyone likes flat edges. Additionally, the notch is 20% smaller than its predecessor, but still a bit of an eyesore.

The Google Pixel 6 Pro has a small punch hole at the top of the display, which should allow for a larger area. Additionally, the Pixel 6 Pro is said to offer an in-screen fingerprint reader, which is something I wish the iPhone 13 Pro Max had. Having to constantly unlock the iPhone with a PIN code while wearing a mask is annoying.
