Samsung Galaxy S22 - This model is Tipped to Dominate

According to a new report by Korean publication The Elec, Samsung will adjust the production ratio of Galaxy S devices and devote most of its production to the rumored 6.1-inch Galaxy S22.

According to this article, Samsung will initially produce between 30 and low 20 million Galaxy S21 handsets. Of these, approximately 50-60% will reportedly be allocated to the 6.1-inch Galaxy S22 and just 20% to the 6.6-inch S22 Plus. The remaining 20-30% is the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Compared to previous years, the percentage of production of basic models has increased significantly. For the Galaxy S20 and S21, the standard models account for only 40% of production, while the ultra versions will increase from 10-15% in 2020 to 30% in 2021.

If one believes the reports, it is the Plus models that are being squeezed from both sides, going from 40-45% of production in 2020 to 30% in 2021 and just 20% next year. This may be why Samsung is considering rebranding it as the Galaxy S22 Pro rather than sticking with the "Plus" name.

Another line stands out in the report: "The Galaxy Note series will likely not be launched in 2022.

But to us, that seems a bit semantic, given that the article reiterates that the S22 Ultra will include a dock for the S Pen for the first time. If it adopts a different style than the S22, is significantly larger, looks like the Galaxy Note 20, and includes an S Pen, it sounds like a Samsung Galaxy Note to us, even if it will be branded Galaxy S22.

Indeed, one leaker believes that the S22 Ultra may actually be called the Note 22 Ultra:

A follow-up tweet added that this decision is not final and that the possibility was only recently discussed.

But whatever the final positioning, hardcore Galaxy Note fans who petitioned Samsung for a new version in early 2022 are likely to be very happy with what the company brings to the table early next year. Or even December, if one leaker's hunch proves correct.
