Google Pixel6Pro Case revealed Key design details

Google's pre-release of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro has answered many questions about the device, but it has also raised many more. The most pressing of these, namely, will a bulky looking phone with such an unusual camera "visor" fit in the hand? [But Robbie Payne, founder of Chrome Unboxed, wanted to know the answer up front, so he bought a Google Pixel 6 Pro case.

Payne had previously tried the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, which he found uncomfortably large." He writes, "Instead of this huge brick I had imagined, the case told me that the Pixel 6 Pro is not much different from the phone I already carry in my OnePlus 8T. Indeed, it almost fits:

But more pleasantly, the Pixel 6 Pro's intimidating 6.7-inch size doesn't actually seem much larger than the 6.3-inch Pixel 4 XL when you factor in the off-screen space.

"As a matter of fact," he writes, "the Pixel 4XL's huge forehead actually makes it the same size as most modern full-screen phones." The OnePlus 8T measures 160.7 x 74.1 x 8.4 mm, while the Pixel 4XL will measure 160.4 x 75.1 x 8.2 mm, almost the same size."

Of course, size is only part of the comfort equation, and devices with similar dimensions can vary dramatically in weight. Similarly, in terms of height, width, and depth, the Pixel 6 Pro seems to be in line with other large devices of the last few years.

Also, the elongated rear camera rubber, the most distinctive feature of Pixel 6 devices, could be a design change for the worse, but Payne is confident it will not happen.

"Holding the case in my hand, I can see that the protrusion is there, and while it is not subtle, it does not extend further from the body of the phone than any other camera module out there," he writes. And since the entire camera rubber sits high on the back of the phone, there is no chance of your hand hitting or making contact with it when you pick up the case." My bet? Once you have this phone, you don't even think about it."

Payne further praises the placement of the buttons and the fact that "hand gymnastics" should be minimal, which is encouraging.

But it's what's inside that matters, and with its brand new Tensor chip, Google is definitely taking a gamble. Fortunately, recent Pixel 6 benchmarks look really promising, and that's before touching on the key advantage Google sees the chip offering, namely that it will "transform the experience of the camera, voice recognition, and other Pixel 6 features."

Leaker Jon Prosser expects the Pixel 6 to be announced on October 19, with a possible launch date of October 28. And despite Google's previous warnings about expensive phones, it appears that the Pixel 6's price could be cheaper than the iPhone 13.
