Description of Venom 2 Post Credit Scene

With the carnage still to come, everyone is talking about the post-credits scene in Venom 2. Venom: Let There Be Carnage will be released this weekend.

Venom Journalist Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) becomes host to an alien symbiote and transforms into the psychic creature Venom. In the sequel, Bullock tries to get the scoop by interviewing serial killer Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson). However, Cletus also becomes host to an alien symbiote, the spawn of Venom, named Carnage.

Carnage was foretold in the end credits scene of the first film. A similar scene in Venom 2 features a very familiar character.

WARNING: There are serious spoilers! [This scene appears mid-credits after Eddie defeats Carnage. He is lying in bed in a seaside hotel room, talking to Venom. Eddie wonders if the symbiote is keeping secrets from him, despite their link. Venom replies that his species has been through a lot in the universe(s), but that he will show Eddie "a fraction of what we symbiotes have been through."

A bright light flashes. Eddie is in another hotel room in a tropical country. The TV is broadcasting news: J. Jonah Jameson has unmasked Peter Parker (Tom Holland) as Spider-Man. This news report was the genesis of the events in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The scene ends with a man randomly emerging from the bathroom and asking what Eddie is doing in his room. Cut to black.

First, the end credits scene confirms that Eddie Brock and Venom are in the same world, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Holland's Spider-Man.

I say "now" because it is unclear if they were in the MCU before the bright light/location shift that occurred in this scene; as MCU fans are well aware, the Multiverse is what exists today and will be even bigger in future Marvel films.

In particular, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" (December 17) is said to feature past versions of the character in the present timeline. Rumors abound that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will appear. And the trailer for "No Way Home" clearly shows past villain Doc Ock (Alfred Molina, from 2004's "Spider-Man 2") and teases the appearance of Electro (Jamie Foxx, from 2014's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2")

This sticker is also used in the film.

By adding this stinger to the end of "Venom: Let There Be Carnage," Sony and Marvel seem to be hinting that Holland's Peter Parker and Venom will one day face off. Then again, this excursion into the MCU could be short-lived. We don't know how the multiverse storyline will unfold or who will end up where.
