The new Google Chrome update will save you tons of time - here's how

Google Drive may be a great place to store files online, but finding and reopening files after closing Google Chrome can be a bit of a hassle. the latest update to Chrome's tab page, finding the relevant files faster should help alleviate this problem by.

The latest update to Chrome now displays a card below the search box along with a shortcut for quick access to recently opened files. This eliminates the need to access Google Drive itself. You still need to go into Google Drive to find old files that you haven't accessed in a while, but being able to quickly access recently opened files from Google Chrome is a time saver.

"In 2019, we're launching the ability to quickly search for files in the Chrome browser's URL bar for select users," Google said in a blog post." Today, we're taking that experience a step further by bringing intelligent file suggestions directly to Chrome's new tab page."

Prior to this update, the new tab page displayed the ubiquitous Google search bar along with shortcuts to recently visited and previously opened web pages. According to a screenshot of the planned page provided by Google, the Google Drive shortcut appears to appear below these.

This new feature is on by default, but administrators can disable it at the domain/OU/group level. This feature is also on by default for users who have not changed their New Tab page experience. Users can disable and re-enable this feature by clicking the Customize Chrome button in the lower right corner of the New Tab page.

Google is releasing this new feature incrementally, so you may not see the shortcut immediately. within 15 days, it should be available to all users with personal Google accounts. Google Workspace, G Suite Basic, and Business users will also receive this feature within the next few weeks.

Google Drive has become an essential tool for many users, especially these days. This Google Chrome update may not be earth-shattering, but anything that saves users time is always welcome. Thanks to this update, Google Chrome is now more attractive.
