The Best Buy RTX3080 card will be available on Friday at stores including Founders Editions

It's official, Best Buy will be stocking RTX 30 series graphics cards on Friday, October 1.Best Buy's RTX 3080 restocking will take place at select stores nationwide. This includes California, Alabama, New Jersey, and Maine. For a full store list, see Best Buy's blog post.

PC gamers are having a hard time finding Nvidia's latest generation of ray-tracing capable GPUs, like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, thanks to duffers and miners. This GPU shortage is so severe that recent gaming laptops have become a fairly approachable value proposition. Historically, gaming laptops have been relatively expensive due to their form factor and the fact that they are pre-assembled products, like pre-assembled desktop PCs.

The rumor (which turned out to be true) was first reported by our sister site PC Gamer and Twitter account GPURestock.

A follow-up tweet by GPURestock stated that tickets will be distributed on Friday, October 1, between 7 and 8 a.m. local time. Those wishing to obtain a card for this restocking will reportedly need to visit the store in person and wait in line. A Best Buy employee will hand out one ticket to everyone in line.

Remember that inventory varies from store to store. Not all stores have all Founder's Edition RTX variants; several comments below GPURestock's original tweet show different results, with one user's store having only RTX 3060. It would be safe to check the app yourself before considering whether it is worth driving to your local Best Buy. It also wouldn't hurt to call ahead and talk to a store associate before you spend the night out in the field.
