iPhone13 has a new issue - and no timetable for fix [Update]

Update: Apple is working on a fix for the issue that prevents the iPhone 13 from unlocking the Apple Watch, which should be addressed in the iOS 15.1 beta. It is unclear when this iOS update will be available to all

The iPhone 13 has only been on the market for a short time, but it is already facing several issues. First, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max's ProMotion displays are not always running at 120Hz.

And now we know that the iPhone 13 series is not working properly with "Unlock by Apple Watch". And this is odd since the iPhone 12 and older iPhones do not seem to be affected at this time.

As reported by The Verge, Apple has confirmed an issue where the "Unlock with Apple Watch" feature may not work on the new iPhone 13 devices. This is according to a note on Apple's own support page.

The page details, "If you try to unlock your iPhone while wearing a face mask, you may see the message "Unable to communicate with Apple Watch." Or the feature may not be configured at all.

A popular thread on Reddit was one of the first sources to point out this iPhone 13 issue, with one user stating that a complete reset of the iPhone would fix the problem.

Apple has said that the iPhone 13's unlocking issue with the Apple Watch will be fixed in a future software update, but no date has been given. For now, the company states that "you can turn off Apple Watch unlocking and use the passcode to unlock the iPhone 13."

Our review of the iPhone 13 was generally positive, but we have noted that the lack of Touch ID is a drawback of the new iPhone. We wish Apple had either supported Touch ID on the power button like the iPad mini 6 or had a Touch ID sensor under the display.

Now, as someone who wears a mask while traveling, it is annoying to have to enter a passcode every time I unlock my iPhone 13.

Hopefully a fix for this issue will be released soon.
