iPhone13Apple Watch bug has a fix, but there is a catch

If you are one of those struggling to get your iPhone 13 to work with your Apple Watch, Apple may be able to save you.

Despite using the latest iOS 15 software, the iPhone 13 series could not use the existing "unlock with Apple Watch" feature. Fortunately, according to Inside Digital's Holger Eilhard (via 9to5Mac), this problem seems to have been fixed in iOS 15.1 beta 2 and watchOS 8.1 beta 1.

As previously reported, the iPhone 13 had difficulty working with the unlock feature available on Apple smartwatches. This usually allows users to unlock their iPhones with Face ID while wearing a paired Apple Watch, even if the user's face is covered by sunglasses or a face mask. However, in the case of the new iPhone, this did not happen.

Apple had previously stated that it was working on this issue, but did not have a timeline for when a fix would be available. It is a good sign that a solution appeared in the new beta, but it remains to be seen when a stable version of iOS 15.1 will be available.

If you're facing problems with your iPhone 13 and Apple Watch, we suggest you think carefully. Beta software does not guarantee smooth operation and can lead to unexpected problems and data loss. For the time being, it may be best to grin and bear the frustration of the unlock bug on the Apple Watch.

Unlocking on the Apple Watch may not be the only feature coming in iOS 15.1; SharePlay, the ability to listen to music and watch videos with others over FaceTime, is also finally available in the first major revision of iOS 15 The option to store COVID-19 vaccination cards in Apple Wallet is also expected to make an appearance.

By itself, the iPhone 13 is one of the best phones we have tested. But that's no excuse for not working with any of Apple's other major products. If you're interested in either the iPhone 13 or the new Apple Watch, you might want to wait until this issue is fully fixed before ordering.
