Ferrari just joined forces with the man who designed the iPhone

Designer Jony Ive has done a lot of work since leaving Apple and starting his own design firm, Love From, with Marc Newson. Now the firm has formed a creative partnership with Ferrari and its holding company Exor.

This multi-year partnership is intended to explore the "business of luxury," but specifics are not known. However, it is speculated (from the Financial Times) that this may have something to do with Ferrari's first all-electric car.

Ferrari sells two plug-in hybrids, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale and the 296 GTB, but the company's first all-electric car will not appear until 2025. According to Ferrari, the car will be "a breakthrough in the history of Ferrari, dreamed up by Maranello's engineers and designers."

If so, Ive, who designed the highly acclaimed Apple products such as the iPod, iPhone, and Apple Watch, could be involved. Unfortunately, we don't know the specifics of what Lovefrom will contribute at Ferrari. [The first expression of this new partnership] will bring together Ferrari's legendary performance and excellence with Lovefrom's unparalleled experience and creativity in defining extraordinary, world-changing products," the statement said.

With cars, especially Tesla, going for flash, minimalist interior design, it makes sense for a company like Ferrari to partner with someone like Ive. After all, he has a history of designing sleek, minimalist products during his time at Apple.

Moreover, Apple has reportedly been working on the Apple Car for several years, long before Ive left the company. In other words, a partnership with Ferrari is not out of the realm of possibility.

However, such a partnership would likely involve more than Ferrari's contribution to electric cars. The Ferrari brand is just as important as the cars, and involves the sale of clothing, watches, and other products. So it is very likely that Lovefrom will work in that department instead.

One can only wait and see what emerges from this partnership in the near future. Nevertheless, we imagine that Ferrari will take whatever Lovefrom comes up with, whether it is related to Ferrari cars or something else entirely, and will take it up in a big way.
