The release date of the new MacBook Air was tipped in late 2022

The next MacBook Air, dubbed the MacBook Air 2021, is increasingly likely to arrive in 2022, especially according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's latest forecast.

According to MacRumors, Kuo's latest investor note predicts that production of the next MacBook Air will not begin until the third quarter of 2022. This is later than his earlier prediction of a mid-2022 launch.

It has been almost a year since the current MacBook Air M1 was announced. With this information in mind, it could mean that by the time the current MacBook Air is apparently replaced, it will be two years old.

In a previous research note, Kuo suggested that the next MacBook Air will feature a new design, and this has been mentioned by other leakers; Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has stated that the MacBook Air will be updated next year, Claiming that it will have a thinner and lighter design, Bloomberg also reports that the next Air may have a smaller display bezel, keeping the display the same size, but with a smaller overall frame.

Gurman also claims that the new Air could feature two new USB 4 ports, MagSafe charging, and possibly a new larger 15-inch version. Reliable Apple leaker Jon Prosser adds to this, discussing various new bright color options in the style of the new 24-inch iMac.

Kuo also states that he expects an upgrade to the Apple M1 chip for the upcoming Air. This could be called the M1X or Apple M2 chip, depending on how big an improvement Apple has in store.

The last major rumor Kuo previously suggested is that the MacBook Air may feature a mini LED display like the one on the latest 12.9-inch iPad Pro. This would improve upon Apple's current LCD display by offering higher overall brightness, better contrast, and improved HDR performance.

Meanwhile, a new Apple laptop may appear before the end of the year: the new MacBook Pr0 2021 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with the Apple M1X chip did not materialize at the iPhone 13 launch event, but October October or November, although it is believed that they will appear in October or November.
