The Google Pixel is known for offering spectacular camera performance thanks to its many powerful computational photo sensors. However, camera capabilities have always been one of the selling points of the Pixel series, and the Google Pixel 6 series looks to deliver.

A teardown of the Google Camera app (via XDA Developers) reveals a variety of features that could be coming to the Pixel 6. Coupled with the rumors of impressive camera hardware, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are likely to be the iPhone 13's best bet.

The Google Camera app has been a great way to speculate on what features might be included in future Pixel releases, and it appears that the Pixel 6 will be no exception. xda Developers delved into the app and found that the Pixel 6's camera experience will be enhanced by They found code that references a number of features that are expected to help improve the Pixel 6 camera experience.

One such feature, manual white balance adjustment, has apparently been in development for some time; XDA Developers notes that it was first discovered in July and speculates that it may be related to Google's own efforts to allow the camera to capture more diverse skin tones. They speculate that it may be related to Google's own efforts to allow cameras to capture a greater variety of skin tones.

In addition to this, features like the Magic Eraser and the "Face Blur" option could be back. These are both features enabled by machine learning and AI, and should be greatly enhanced by the AI-centric Tensor chipset that will be included in both next-generation Pixels.

Teardown also suggests that the Pixel 6 Pro will be able to record at 4K, 60 fps with the main camera, and the other lenses at 4K, 30 fps. It also suggests that when shooting at this quality, users will be able to switch between all three rear lenses and not have to pause recording first.

Rumors suggest that the Pixel 6 series will feature a 50MP Samsung GN1 camera and a 12MP Sony IMX386 ultra-wide camera lens. The Pixel 6 is also likely to have an 8MP selfie camera. And the Pixel 6 Pro will have a 48MP Sony IMX586 telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom and upgrade the selfie camera to 12MP.

In other words, it looks like pretty powerful hardware, and combined with Google's existing camera software, we should be able to complete some pretty spectacular photos and videos.

Of course, this is just what we can get from the Google Camera app ahead of time and will not be representative of all the new features and upgrades Google has in store. It is not clear what they are, and it is clear that what is rumored or discovered ahead of time is not guaranteed. We will just have to wait for Google to tell us what is going on.

Fortunately, we won't have to wait much longer, as the current rumor is that the Pixel 6 series will launch on October 19.
