While iPhone 13 reservations are still fresh, those who decided to skip this year's lineup will be pleased to discover that Apple may finally get rid of the notch altogether in the rumored iPhone 14 Pro model.

This is according to trusted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via MacRumors), who says that next year's Pro lineup will feature a hole-punch display and an upgraded rear camera system with a 48-megapixel main camera They claim.

The hole-punch design means that the smartphone's display will be unobstructed by a notch, with only a small opening for the front camera, meaning that any biometric authentication methods could be placed under the display or integrated into the front camera. Such displays can already be seen in some of Samsung's flagship smartphones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S21 and the foldable Galaxy Z Flip 3.

This design has already been claimed by leaker Jon Prosser to be on the iPhone 14, and he showed off a rendered image that appears to be based on leaked information.

Unfortunately, Kuo also predicts that Apple will not bring back Touch ID in the iPhone 14. Before the iPhone 13 was released, many of us hoped that this feature would appear in this year's lineup, and when it did not, we 14, and when that didn't happen, we held out hope for the iPhone 14. However, Kuo predicts that Cupertino may include this feature in the iPhone 15 lineup.

But even without the Touch ID sensor, Kuo's predictions for next year's iPhone lineup are still exciting, especially with the long-awaited elimination of the notch. iPhone 13 has an apparently smaller notch, but Apple's iPhone X we won't see a percentage of battery life, which has been one of the complaints since the beginning of the iPhone X. Nevertheless, the hole-punch display would still be a significant upgrade if Apple actually implements it.

Another potentially impressive upgrade is the iPhone 14 Pro's camera system; Kuo claims that next year's Pro lineup will feature a 48 megapixel main camera. For reference, even with all the upgrades, this year's Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max both have 12-megapixel main cameras. Thus, if Kuo's prediction has any weight, next year's iPhone 14 Pro has the potential to be a major upgrade to the current iPhone, which already reigns at the top of our best camera phone list.
