One drive, the most important of the game, stalled when a lead and perhaps a win was within reach for the Pats.

After an interception by New England corner Jonathan Jones, the Pats' offense took over at the 50-yard line with a one-point conversion. Mac Jones went 3-for-3 on the drive, moving his team to the Dolphins' 10-yard line. With a field goal the only way to take the lead, the Dolphins were conservative and handed the ball off to running back Damien Harris. Harris lost the ball to Zanien Howard and fumbled. The Patriots lost 17-16.

Zach Wilson also lost his NFL debut to Sam Darnold and the Panthers 19-14, taking "L Wilson's numbers were not as impressive as Jones' posting an 82.9 passer rating while throwing his first career interception and taking six sacks in the loss. Wilson was able to find Corey Davis for two touchdowns in the loss.

The Patriots are 5.5-point favorites against the Jets. The over/under is 43.
