I'm finally signing up for Apple Fitness Plus for this one new feature

I'm not a fan of exercise, and would like to be if I could, but I'm not. Sure, I go jogging once in a while or do yoga in my living room, but I've never been committed enough to go to the gym or do anything more than that.

For that reason alone, I have never shown much interest in Apple's Fitness Plus service. Don't get me wrong, it's a great idea for staying fit, but it has never appealed to me personally. One of the latest updates, a guided meditation class, immediately caught my interest.

Meditation is something I try to find time to do every day. We live in a hectic world and are subjected to constant speed and pressure. When it comes to improving overall well-being, it is just as important as exercise, and it is great that Apple has recognized this.

Fitness Plus has long offered "Mindful Cool Down," a quick meditation session to help you cool down after a workout. Now, with the addition of a dedicated meditation class each month, you can focus solely on mindfulness and easily incorporate the sessions into your daily routine, whether you work out or not. Choose from nine guided meditation themes to suit your mood, including purpose, kindness, gratitude, awareness, creativity, wisdom, calmness, focus, and resilience. For each, a Fitness Plus trainer will guide you through a 5-, 10-, or 20-minute experience.

You can access Fitness Plus on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV, but you can now also access these classes in audio format on the new Apple Watch mindfulness app. This means you can meditate even when you are not at home, on the train, or in the office.

The watchOS 8 update upgrades the Breathe app to the Mindfulness app. This app will include breathing exercises, a new session type called Reflect, and access to Fitness Plus guided meditations. The audio for each class can be heard through Bluetooth headphones. If you want to enjoy meditation on the move, you can also use the Workout app to record your meditations.

The guided meditation sessions will be led by Mindful Cool Down and Yoga trainers you may have already seen on Fitness Plus. Each trainer will teach in a different style and tone, so you can find the right trainer for you or enjoy different variations. A new "Meditation for Beginners" program will also be introduced to help people understand the basics of meditation before starting classes. Thus, these classes are effective for both those who are new to meditation and those who are more experienced.

Personally, I can't wait to try these sessions. I usually only meditate for 5-10 minutes at a time, so maybe I will start meditating longer. Perhaps I will even try a fitness class.

Apple Fitness Plus is $10/month and Guided Meditation is available starting September 27.
